One of the two explosive devices was detonated at the stern of the ship near the propeller. Within minutes the Rainbow Warrior sank. Greenpeace photographer Fernando Pereira drowned in his cabin. Today, the propeller is part of the memorial on the hill, Mataa Uri, at Matauri Bay.
